This past weekend saw the launch of The World Ends with You: Final Remix for Nintendo Switch, and with it came a trailer showcasing many of the elements that the updated rendition of the classic RPG has to offer.
Originally released on Nintendo DS way back in 2008 The World Ends with You is an RPG adventure that takes place in a contemporary urban setting featuring a cool graffiti-inspired art-style. The latest trailer for the Final Remix edition shows the game in action and showcases a number of the key features therein.
It opens up with lead character Reku waking up in the middle of a busy Tokyo junction as he gets thrust into a deadly game where he must complete missions on a daily basis in order to survive while pedestrians begin to disappear around him. Along the way, we get to see him form partnerships in a breathless race against time. There are also moments of mental manipulation as players search through characters’ minds for information.
On top of this, we also get a glimpse of the game’s co-op mode. Reku teams up with other characters to do battle against waves of wolves, crabs, and dragons in real time using the game’s updated control scheme. His partners use their combat abilities to take down their foes while performing backflips on skateboards or calling in pint-sized plushie bears for help.
The World Ends with You: Final Remix is available now exclusively on Nintendo Switch. You can currently pick up a copy on Amazon.
