World of Warcraft: Cataclysm OFFICIALLY Releases on December 7th

Last week we talked about putting two-and-two together to determine the Cataclysm release date, but today we have official word from Blizzard that the release date is, indeed, December 7th. The expansion will release in both standard edition and collector’s edition formats, for $39.99 and $79.99 respectively. As far as I’m concerned, this is probably the best expansion for World of Warcraft to date, and if you want to see just a fraction of what is in store, you can check out my Cataclysm Beta Report articles that I’ve done in the past.

Sometime soon (before the official release) the game will be updated to verion 4.0.x, which will introduce many of the new mechanics and UI improvements that will come along with Cataclysm, so we won’t have to wait until the exact release date to see what has been happening on the beta servers for the last few months.
