If you haven't been paying much attention to World of Warcraft you may have missed out on one of the best additions to the game in years: Mythic Dungeons.

These dungeons operate similarly to Destiny's Nightfall Strikes, in that players need to run increasingly difficult dungeons with rotating "affixes" that act as modifiers which can do anything from reducing the healing you receive to creating pools of blood on the ground that deal damage to you and heal enemies. It's also important to note that all of this is going on in a time limit and deaths remove 5 seconds from the clock. The higher the Mythic Dungeon level, the more affixes players need to deal with and with this addition comes a new layer of competition.

You can check to see if there is a match going on at the official Warcraft Twitch.

Players from around the world are currently competing to see who can conquer these dungeons the fastest. Blizzard determines the map and the first two affixes, but the winning team gets to decide which map and affix the group takes on next. You can check out which dungeons and affixes Blizzard is pushing for the tournament here.

World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth is launching on August 14. For more on the game, check out Family Guys' recent Warcraft-themed episode here.
