With a history as long-running as World of Warcraft, the popular MMO has spawned a massive community that has continued to venture through the game for over 15 years. However, the WoW community has unfortunately lost one notable member this past week in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.Jarod Nandin, a cosplayer well-known for his spot-on recreation of the infamous World of Warcraft player from South Park, passed away this week at the age of 40 due to complications from COVID-19. In December 2020, Nandin had posted through his social media channels that he had contracted the virus but remained upbeat and positive while hospitalized, before passing away on Sunday, January 3, 2021.Past BlizzCon host Michele Morrow--who had met previously met Nandin--shared a tweet thread with photos of Nandin at various events donning his signature cosplay. She also highlighted how many in the World of Warcraft community were holding up their "Sword of a Thousand Truths" in honor of his memory.

Nandin was an icon of World of Warcraft, specifically known for his cosplay as "South Park Guy" inspired by the series' season 10 episode "Make Love, Not Warcraft." Nandin made several appearances at events such as BlizzCon as the character while also interacting with others throughout the World of Warcraft community at events and conventions around the country.

In the wake of Nandin's passing, a GoFundMe page has been set up to raise funds and help support his family. We here at DualShockers offer our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Jarod Nandin.
