Developer Saber Interactive has just announced that pre-orders are finally open for their third-person zombie shooter World War Z, but that's not all as they've also treated us to an intense zombie on zombie action in the “Zombies Are Coming” trailer where we see hordes of the living dead bounding in and jumping around while accompanied by the soundtrack to P.O.D "Boom" - which is actually a really appropriate song given that many of the zombies get blown to pieces.

A few weeks ago, the long-awaited title got a release date of April 16, 2019, which then followed the CEO from Saber Interactive releasing a statement detailing the price drop for World War Z on the Epic Games Store. Matthew Karch explains that by going down this route with Epic, it would "provide the best deal for players and developers". PC players will then be able to purchase World War Z for a reduced rate of $34.99.

Even though the movie of World War Z has got unfortunately shelved, Saber Interactive have kept us in the loop and well stocked up on trailers. One recent trailer saw squad vs. squad mode between two teams of four with also some hints of Player vs. Player vs. Zombie (PvPvZ), but we didn't really get to see that being played out in that specific clip.

With World War Z due out on April 16 and then Days Gone releasing just over a week later on April 26, it will be interesting to see how both play out against each other in the zombie genre pool. Although Days Gone does seem to have more story depth and emotional undercurrent to it while World War Z seems to play out a lot like Left 4 Dead, which definitely isn't a bad thing coming from a fan of the series, but I do hope that they can both bring something new and unique to the genre without falling into the cliche potholes along the way.

World War Z  can now be pre-ordered on PS4, Xbox One, and PC through the Epic Games Store before its release on April 16. If you decide to purchase the World War Z retail version, you will receive the Lobo Weapon Pack which features three golden weapon skins and the dual-bladed Lobo spade, at no extra charge.
