Social media wars between fans of different MMORPGs are nothing new. Since they require a lot of time and dedication, most gamers tend to pick one and champion it against all others. Considering that World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy XIV are two of the most popular entries in the genre, skirmishes between their fanbases are a daily occurrence.Yet, it's a lot rarer to see (friendly?) Twitter battles erupt between the official social media accounts of the games. It all started with Twitter user S1N3N, who probably had no idea of what he was about to unleash:

The official account of World of Warcraft quickly responded:

Not to be outdone, the official account of Final Fantasy XIV fired back:

... And then it escalated...

Funnily, the Overwatch official account did not ride to the rescue of its Blizzard brother, but just opted to enjoy the show.

Before the end, the folks at NCSoft handling the official Blade & Soul account also jumped into the fray, showing their own "assets."

Ultimately, at least for now, things seem to have ended with a draw, with the opponents returning to their respective angles, at lest until round two.
