Yuke's has been the primary developer behind nearly every major WWE game for the past twenty years, but with this year's installment of WWE 2K20, that run has finally come to an end.

In a new report from VGC, it was confirmed that Yuke's is not the developer behind WWE 2K20. Instead, Visual Concepts is now the primary developer of the project.

"WWE 2K20 will be developed by Visual Concepts, who have worked with Yuke’s on the development of the series since WWE 2K14," 2K said in a statement. "As we’ve continued to invest in the WWE 2K franchise, we’ve seen the Visual Concepts team display incredible passion, talent and commitment to the future of the series. We thank Yuke’s for their years of partnership and are excited to see what the Visual Concepts team brings to the franchise moving forward.”

This news comes just months after it was revealed that Yuke's was going to be working on a new wrestling game internally, seemingly to compete with themselves on WWE 2K20. This new wrestling game is still assumed to be in the works and the green light for it being created makes a bit more sense now that we're aware that the developer is no longer working on WWE 2K. While this game will seemingly be what Yuke's is prioritizing work on moving forward, they did also say that they'll "continue providing support to 2K with regard to the game engine."

WWE 2K20 is set to launch later this fall on October 22 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
