Xbox 360 Has Another Six or So Years Left in it, Says MS

You know, with the severe drought of Xbox 360 exclusive games and franchises over the last year or so, many folks had began to assume that Microsoft was just letting the console rot because it had a shiny next generation console in the works. Quite to the contrary, Xbox’s EMEA VP Chris Lewis has said that the console is “about halfway through” its total life cycle. Considering the Xbox 360 has been on the market for nearly six years, this suggests that the console could still be trucking in 2017. Mr. Lewis also had this to say:

There’s no doubt that Kinect put a huge shot of adrenaline into the business.¬†What we are now seeing is massive swathes of families and younger audiences flocking to it.

Yeah, I think that’s what people expected to happen when they saw the primary applications Kinect had to video games. I hope he isn’t implying that the Xbox will coast by over the next six years on Kinect’s back, because if that’s the case I can just lock mine in the basement cupboard right now. Let’s pray that MS changes their ways and pushes not just two or three but several good Xbox exclusives into the market in the near future.
