Xbox 360 owners looking to get the full experience out of the upcoming open world FPS RAGE had better clear out some serious hard drive space. Developer id Software revealed at QuakeCon this past weekend that installing on the 360 would mandate an unbelievable twenty-two gigabytes of free space. This is even more lavish when you consider that the 360 version of RAGE will span three DVDs. John Carmack, head of id, had this to say about the matter:

On the 360 we don’t have a partial install option; it’s all or nothing. It means you have to install 21 to 22GB of stuff which takes a long time, but if you’ve got it and you play it on the 360 that’s the way to go.

John goes on to explain that installing the game is much easier on the system than running it fully from the disc. I have to assume that RAGE has gotten quite sizable over its gigantic 5+ year development time. The only real option this leaves 360 owners interested in the full install is to clear out plenty of HD space. The game will be available for HD consoles and the PC on October 4th.
