Xbox 360 USB Flash Drives Now Shipping

If you can recall back to the weekend of PAX East, one of the biggest announcements made was Microsoft’s USB flash drive expansion option. After Larry “Major Nelson” Hyrb made it official during the MS press breakfast we were made aware of the Gamestop release date of April 6th. The drives eventually would miss their release date, but as they say, it’s better late than never.

Sandisk has finally put the drives, in all their 360 branded (and premium priced) glory, on their official site for purchasing. The drives (8gb and 16gb) allow for easy transfer of gamertags, gamesaves, and downloads from one location to another. And while most would consider them severely overpriced (and I’m on the same boat) they’ve attempted to justify the purchase by throwing in a free month of Xbox Live. Either way, even after I fill up the 120gb hdd on my 360, I’ll probably wait around for Mad Catz to drop one with a bigger capacity for 1/3 of the price, but hey, that’s just me.
