Xbox Exec: “The PS4 Isn’t More Powerful”, “Xbox One is More Powerful” Due the Power of the Cloud

The Xbox One has just been launched in France, and fighting words come from the French Marketing Manager of Microsoft’s Xbox division, Hugues Ouvrard, that outright denied the power advantage of the PS4 in an interview on Le Nouvel Observateur.

The PS4 isn’t more powerful. There is some confusion about the difference in the number of pixels, but the resolution of some games is defined by the publisher, not by the console. Especially thanks to the power of the cloud – we installed 300,000 servers – the capabilities of the console are multiplied by four. So if you connect the console to the Internet, then the Xbox One is the most powerful.

That sounds a bit like moving the goal posts to me (and capabilities multiplied like four seems a bit like science fiction), but I guess we can’t blame Ouvrard too much for trying to shift the conversation to a more advantageous playing field. He’s a marketing executive after all…
