Xbox Game Pass Ultimate was announced during Inside Xbox today. It is a new subscription service that will allow you to combine your Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold memberships together. This news comes after a rumor that went around the internet a few months ago that the two services were going to merge together. With this being the case, players who opt into Xbox Games Pass Ultimate subscription will save $5 between both of the services, which should help make the new service more enticing.

Xbox Game Pass is Xbox's gaming service which gives you access to a huge catalog of different games that you can play. The service adds new games to its catalog every month like Monster Hunter: World, which is being added later this month. All of Microsoft's first party games, including the recently released Crackdown 3, also come to Game Pass on day one. Xbox Live Gold is the service which allows you to play games online with your friends. On top of that, subscribers get two Xbox One games and one Xbox 360 or original Xbox Game to download for free. Basically, you're getting a lot of games to play for a very understandable price.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will not come out until later this year, but if you are an Xbox Insider you may be chosen to test the new service. If you have a prepaid membership for Game Pass or Gold, Xbox says that there will be a way to upgrade your membership to Game Pass Ultimate.

The new Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription service is set to release sometime later this year for a monthly price of $14.99
