Xbox Hardware Sales Decrease 17% Due to Lower Xbox 360 Sales, Gaming Revenue up by 6%
Microsoft posted its earnings results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2016 (ended on September 30th), showing numbers in the black for both operating income and net income, as you can see in the table below.
The quarterly results mention a growth of the whole gaming field year on year by 6%, and a 28% increase in active Xbox Live monthly user, that grew to 39 million. Xbox hardware revenue, on the other hand, decreased by 17% due to lower Xbox 360 sales.
Software sales were also up by a massive 66% year on year, mostly driven by sales of Mojang’s Minecraft.
