Although Microsoft has retargeted their console’s strategy slightly with original TV content now being less of a focus, the Xbox One still features a plethora of streaming apps available from networks such as Netflix, HBO, FX, Showtime, and more, with Comedy Central about to join the mix.

The official Comedy Central streaming app is now available on Xbox One, with the app free to download from the Xbox Marketplace for console owners. Like other streaming apps such as HBO Go and FX Now, the Comedy Central app will allow users to stream new episodes of the network’s shows, with favorites such as The Daily Show with Jon StewartThe Colbert ReportSouth ParkWorkaholics, and more being available through the app. New episodes of the shows will typically be available the day after they originally air.

In addition to more recent programming and episodes, the app will also contain a catalog of older shows and episodes available for viewing, mainly “classic” series from Comedy Central’s past. Though information on the app did not specify how far back this will go, the complete run of The Chapelle Show was mentioned as being available for viewing. Xbox Live Gold will not be required in order to download and use the app, though an active cable subscription is needed to log in.
