Xbox One Gets New Elite Bundle for $499; Includes Elite Controller and 1TB Solid State Hybrid Drive
With the holiday season about to start ramping up, Microsoft has unveiled a new bundle catering to the company’s more dedicated fans with a new bundle that’s keeping the “Elite” in mind with a new controller and a faster-loading hard drive.
Microsoft unveiled the new “Elite Bundle” for Xbox One, which will retail for $499 and alongside an Xbox One console will also include two valuable assets: the pro-minded Elite Controller with removable/swappable parts and a 1TB solid state hybrid drive, which will enable faster game loading and console performance.
The 1TB SSHD will enable a faster load time for Xbox One games by storing “frequently-accessed files on a solid state partition” and will optimize the overall system performance. Microsoft further detailed that the drive will allow the Xbox One console to run “up to 20 percent faster from energy-saving mode,” allowing a bit of a faster transition from when the console is in a low-power state.
The Xbox One Elite Bundle will be available worldwide starting November 3rd, 2015 – however, Microsoft’s release detailed that the bundle will be available only at GameStop and the Microsoft Store for the month of November, though it seems like the bundle may expand to other regions after November.
In addition to the bundle, Microsoft also announced a new controller option in the form of the Special Edition Lunar White Xbox One controller, which includes all of the added features of the updated Xbox One controller (such as its built-in 3.5mm headphone jack). The Lunar White controller will release starting in late September for $64.99, exclusively at GameStop.
