Xbox One Getting Temporary Price Drop in Japan, Matches Sony’s PS4 Price Cut Until December

While Microsoft missed Tokyo Game Show this year, the house of Xbox just held its own event, and the first part of it is a press conference, that was just wrapped up a few minutes ago.

During the briefing, the house of Xbox announced a temporary price drop for the Xbox One in the archipelago of the rising sun, matching (at least for a period) the move announced by Sony for the PS4 during its own press conference on September 15th.

The reduction in price will be exactly the same, 5,000 yen ($41.5), and will start on the same day, October 1st. The only difference is that the price drop for the Xbox One will last only until December 31st.

On top of this, Microsoft also announced the release of the Xbox One Elite bundle in Japan, coming on November 6th and priced at 49,980 yen ($415).

It’ll be interesting to see whether the discount will help revitalize Xbox One sales in Japan, but we’ll have to wait for the Media Create charts on October 7th, in order to see the first signals.
