Xbox One June Software Update Launches, SmartGlass App for iOS and Android Updated

Microsoft just announced that it’s now rolling out the June Software update for all Xbox One users, bringing in quite a few features and primarily the implementation of external storage:

The Xbox team has been hard at work on delivering the new capabilities we recently announced for fans, including highly anticipated Xbox One features like external storage, the ability to use your real name on Xbox Live, and improved SmartGlass integration. Both the Xbox One and Xbox 360 system updates will begin rolling out globally this week, giving fans more ways than ever to enjoy the best in gaming and entertainment with Xbox.

In addition to the update of the console, Microsoft also launched a new update for the both the Android and iOS versions of Xbox One’s SmartGlass application. Here’s a full list of additions and improvements:

  • See all your TV and app channels in one place with the OneGuide
  • Control your cable or satellite box and TV with a new universal remote control
  • Compare achievements
  • Discover and play Twitch broadcasts
  • Game clips watched on SmartGlass now count toward total views
  • Reorder your pins
  • Filter saved game clips
  • Get more types of notifications and manage them in Settings
  • A redesign to Home makes it more engaging
  • See new leaderboards on game and details pages
