Xbox One Ships 5 Million Units; Microsoft Boasts about Titanfall Sales
After counting up the NPD Group numbers for March, Microsoft was proud to announce that Titanfall is the number one selling game for March in the United States.
The team and I had the honor of joining thousands of you in Austin, Texas at SXSW this past March as you waited in line for the Titanfall launch on Xbox One. We were blown away by your passion and enthusiasm on launch night and since then, it’s been exciting to see gamers around the world playing “Titanfall” on Xbox Live.
Yusuf Mehdi, Corporate Vice President of Marketing, Strategy, and Business thanked Respawn Entertainment and EA for their contributions and also announced that they have already shipped more than 5 million Xbox One consoles since launch with fans spending about five hours a day playing with games and apps.
The NPD Group results included how the Xbox One has sold-in 311,000 units in the U.S during the month of March alone, outpacing the Xbox 360 by more than 60 percent at the same point in time, and how the Xbox 360 has also sold 111,000 units as well. Between the two, 4.1 million games have been sold which is 49 percent of total software market share.
Out of the top ten games in the US, the Xbox One held Plant vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zereos, and Titanfall itself. For its generation, Xbox 360 held six of the top ten games including Minecraft, Dark Souls II, and South Park: The Stick of Truth.
