Xbox One’s DVR Will NOT Automatically Record Achievements; Albert Penello Explains How it’ll Work

During an interview by YouTube user ChampChong, Xbox Australia Product Manager Adam Pollington said that the Xbox One’s DVR feature would automatically record any achievement unlocked on the system. Today Microsoft’s Director of Product Planning Albert Penello took to NeoGaf to explain that Pollington did not correctly describe the feature:

It won’t be automatic for every Achievement. It’s a feature that Developers can unlock for achievements, OR, for instance, have hidden in the game for doing something cool or discovering something hidden. Basically we allow developers access to GameDVR and they can put conditions on an automatic recording.

But not every Achievement will automatically be recorded.

This is actually quite a lot better than the automatic recording of any and all achievements, as developers can most probably find more creative and interesting ways to use the console’s DVR than just saving a clip every time the usual achievement pop up appears.
