While many expected the new year to bring some good news for console fans, it has turned out to be even worse than one would expect as the stock situation this year has been the worse since its launch.

Xbox Series X beats PlayStation 5 In Sales Yet Again Amidst Stock Uncertainty

According to Games Industry, Xbox seems to be outperforming the PlayStation in March as well after a dominating February. There were a total of 112,000 games consoles sold in the UK in March, out of which Xbox was on the forefront, followed by Nintendo and Sony. While the sales have risen a considerable 21% since February, the overall sales are still down by 46% as compared to last year, which speaks volumes about the current stock situation.

However, Xbox seems to have upped their game with more influx of stock, as the sales were up by 61% in March. Sony got a 46% boost in sales as well, but it still struggles far behind Microsoft and Nintendo when it comes to the sales of PlayStation units. What's even more surprising is the fact that despite Nintendo Switch's sales falling by over 20%, it still dominates the overall sales this year.

While the PlayStation 5 stock shortage seems to have gotten better on paper, the situation has gotten considerably worse as per analysts. It is not that Xbox is not facing stock issues due to chip shortage but more importantly, there is a much wider gap between supply and demand when it comes to the PlayStation 5. One direct result of this situation is that Sony might lose some of its market share to Xbox. It remains to be seen how long this stock shortage lasts.
