Yesterday we posted the Media Create sales charts for the past week, and we noticed with a bit of disappointment that Yakuza 1 & 2 HD For Wii U not only didn't appear in the top 10, but it didn't even make the top 20.

You'd think such a popular franchise (at least locally) would at least make the top 50 in its first week of sales. Well...It did not.

Today Dengeki Online published the top 50 sales charts by ASCII Media Works and the Wii U remake of the first two Yakuza chapters is nowhere to be seen there as well. The game in 50th place, Battlefield 3, sold 1,878 copies.

We can put one and one together and conclude that Yakuza 1 & 2 HD For Wii U sold less than 1,878 units, which in its debut week and considering the popularity of the franchise can only be defined an unmitigated disaster in perfect Sega style.

I didn't expect it to sell like hotcakes, considering that it was a port of a remake already appeared on PS2 and PS3, but even in my most horrible nightmares I could have ever imagined to see a Yakuza game flop this badly in the archipelago of the rising sun.

Live and learn...
