Today During his Sega Nama livestream Yakuza series Executive Director Toshihiro Nagoshi had an interesting tease to share.

He mentioned that during an event around Tokyo Game Show he will reveal his next game and that it’s something very different from what he has done before. He also mentioned that he has been working on the game for three years, and he’s happy to be finally able to reveal it.

He did not provide any further information, but it’s unlikely that it will be another Yakuza game. We already know that a new IP is in development at Sega’s Yakuza Studio, but it’s also unclear whether this is what Nagoshi-san is preparing to reveal. It’ll certainly be interesting to see what it’ll be about.

In the meanwhile, Sega is preparing to launch Yakuza Online for mobile platforms in Japan, while Yakuza Kiwami 2 launched today in the west for PS4.

If you’re curious about Yakuza Kiwami 2, you can enjoy my review, and purchase the game on Amazon.
