Yakuza Kiwami Kicks Its Way to Retailers with a New Trailer
The remaster to the 2005 PlayStation 2 game, Yakuza Kiwami, released today with a new trailer showcasing the game's improved visuals and combat.
The latest title in the long-running Yakuza series, Yakuza Kiwami, released today bringing fans back into the role of Kazuma Kiryu. Sega released a trailer flaunting the game’s improved visuals, and awesome combat.
Yakuza Kiwami is a remake of the action-adventure game, Yakuza, which made its debut on PlayStation 2 back in 2005. Players take control of the long-running series’ protagonist, Kazuma Kiryu, as he emerges from his ten year incarceration to be presented to a world full of change since his absence.
The Yakuza series features third-person hand-to-hand combat, RPG elements, and an open world to explore. The remaster utilizes the same engine used in the recently-released prequel, Yakuza 0, which helps modernize the 12 year old title.
Fans who cannot get enough of Yakuza‘s over-the-top gameplay will not have to wait much longer. Sega officially announced that Yakuza Kiwami 2 — the remake of Yakuza 2 — will release in Japan and Asia for PS4 on December 7 of this year.
Additionally, two new games set after Yakuza 6: The Song of Life were announced, introducing Kasuga Ichiban as the new protagonist. The first will be a brand new Yakuza sequel for consoles. However, no further details have been revealed. The second, known as Yakuza Online, will be available for PC, iOS, and Android in 2018.
