Like the release earlier this year of Yakuza 0, the Yakuza series has gradually expanded its release from Japanese audiences to the West, with the remake Yakuza Kiwami now officially set to debut in the West later this summer.

SEGA has announced that Yakuza Kiwami, the complete remake of the original Yakuza that released in Japan last year on PS4 and PS3, will release in the Americas and Europe for PS4 on August 29th, 2017, with a price-tag of $29.99/£29.99/€34.99 physically and digitally.

Billed as an "extreme" HD remake of the 2005 original, SEGA also revealed that the first run physical copies of Yakuza Kiwami will also come housed in a special, limited edition SteelBook case.

Alongside the release date announcement and pricing, SEGA has also released a brand new story trailer for Yakuza Kiwami to bring players a closer look into the various conflicts and violence that await in the upcoming remake, while also launching a new companion site called the "Yakuza Experience." Specifically, the site offers an "interactive timeline and character map" to get players up to speed with the cast and events of the series, along with the first of a 10-issue digital comic series with history and backstory of the entire Yakuza series.

Yakuza Kiwami is available in Japan on PS4 and PS3, with the PS4 version of the title to head to the West on August 29th, 2017 - in the meantime, you can check out the brand new story trailer for the game below:
