Following the release of Yakuza 0 on Xbox Game Pass just a few months back, the second (technically first) entry in the series is now slated to hit the service sooner than you might think.Announced by the official Xbox Game Pass Twitter account, it was revealed this afternoon that Yakuza Kiwami is set to finally land on the service tomorrow. The Xbox Game Pass account teased the news earlier in the day before making it official that those subscribed to Microsoft's platform would be able to download the game beginning on April 22. For many, this has been one of the most highly-requested arrivals on Game Pass in recent months and it also marks the title's first appearance on the Xbox platform.

Yakuza Kiwami is a remake of the original Yakuza which first launched back in 2005. Kiwami initially released on PS3 and PS4 in 2016 in Japan before later releasing only on the latter platform around the world in 2017 and on PC in 2019. A follow-up remake of the second entry, that of Yakuza Kiwami 2, ended up arriving the following year around the world in 2018. Kiwami 2 is also slated to come to Xbox One and the Game Pass program in the future as well, but no release date for the title has been given yet.

As luck would have it, I personally just started playing Yakuza Kiwami a few days ago on PS4 and have been having a lot of fun with it. Even as someone with no experience with the franchise, Kiwami has been a joy so far. I'd absolutely recommend you download it onto your Xbox One, assuming you have Game Pass. There's a lot of enjoyment to be had with this one.

As for the future of the franchise as a whole, Yakuza: Like A Dragon is the latest installment in the series and is set to arrive in the west at some point in 2020.
