Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio held on October 29 a live stream for Yakuza: Like a Dragon, revealing new gameplay and details. The stream most notably featured Toshihiro Nagoshi and Producer Masayoshi Yokoyama, The stream was MC'ed by Ayana Tsubaki.

You can find the first gameplay sequence linked at the timestamp below:

During the stream, Yakuza: Like A Dragon's staff most notably explained something about the battle system I didn't realize yet: you deal much more damage when attacking enemies on the ground. So, in the end, it's better to focus on a downed enemy. There's also a Just Guard system, which drastically reduces damage received if you guard with the right timing. There's also a Just Action system, which boosts your damage if you hit the right button at the right time.

We didn't get to see a new Job, but Nagoshi teased that one of the Jobs unlockable by Saeko is "Doctor". They also teased that among the Delivery Help summon attacks, there will be a cat, because Nagoshi loves cats, and it'll be super strong.

Next, we saw the cinema rhythm minigame:

In Yakuza: Like a Dragon, you can invite party members to various places to increase their friendship level and unlock stuff. We detailed that in a previous article. One of these places where you can hang out is a rundown cinema, which only screens boring movies. There are tons of different movies to unlock, and Ichiban needs to watch them without falling asleep. This is all depicted with a rhythm minigame, where you need to shoot the sheep so they don't put Ichiban to sleep. Sometimes a rooster appears instead of sheep, and you mustn't shoot them.

Producer Yokoyama mentioned they showed a pretty high-level movie for the stream, and this minigame is usually not that hard at the beginning of the game.

We saw the karaoke minigame as well:

The karaoke minigame is a staple of the Yakuza series so you're probably already familiar with it. Hostess bars are also back as previously confirmed, though they didn't show one on this steam. However, they teased how you can bring friends there. So instead of focusing on courting a girl, you can instead just go there to have fun with friends.

Sega also revealed the box art of Ryu Ga Gotoku 7: Hikari to Yami no Yukue on stream.

That's pretty much everything. While ending the stream, Toshihiro Nagoshi most notably mentioned how Yakuza: Like a Dragon has a ton of content, so we should look forward to it.

The game will be having multiple demo events in Japan until December. You can check the specific dates and locations on the official Japanese site if you're interested. Yakuza: Like a Dragon's cast also recently shared interesting tidbits in video interviews we translated.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon launches on January 16 in Japan and later in 2020 in the west, exclusively on PS4. Toshihiro Nagoshi explained at TGS 2019 why the game isn't named "Yakuza 7" in the west. You can also watch more gameplay here.

As a side note, this month's SegaNama stream with Toshihiro Nagoshi and Ayana Tsubaki happened just before this stream, but nothing worth mentioning happened, so I'm not doing a summary this time. It was pretty fun to watch though. You can read our summary of the September SegaNama if you're interested.
