Yakuza Franchise is Coming to Xbox Game Pass in Early 2020

Kiryu is coming to an Xbox near you. Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, and Yakuza Kiwami 2 is coming to Xbox consoles in early 2020

If you thought Xbox had a serious lack of Kazuma Kiryu, the Microsoft console has you covered. Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, and Yakuza Kiwami 2 are all coming to Xbox One and will be available on Xbox Game Pass early 2020. This is the first time the beloved Yakuza franchise will be heading to the Xbox console platform.

The three announced titles are all great ways for newcomers to get into Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios’ action RPG series. Yakuza 0 is a prequel to the first game, while Yakuza Kiwami is a remake of the 2005 release. As you probably guessed, Yakuza Kiwami 2 is a remake of the second game.

Yakuza has been a pretty important franchise for Sega recently, especially in the West. Sega itself has stressed that the series has been part of its recent success, which includes re-introducing Kazuma Kiryu to the West. This also shows as every Yakuza game will be available for the Western audience. This includes the previously mentioned games, the Yakuza Remaster Collection — which includes Yakuza 3, Yakuza 4, and Yakuza 5 — and Yakuza 6.

This extends to Yakuza: Like a Dragon, which is set to release in Japan on January 16, 2020 and later in the west in 2020. It will feature a new protagonist, but it was recently teased Kazuma Kiryu — whose story finished in Yakuza 6 — will be in the upcoming sequel. It will also a turn-based combat system rather than the actiony combat the series is known for. A demo for the game has launched on the Japanese PlayStation Store.

As mentioned, Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, and Yakuza Kiwami 2 will be available through Xbox Game Pass in early 2020. A specific release date has yet to be revealed. We have reviews for all of these games on our site; here are our reviews for Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, and Yakuza Kiwami 2 so you see what we think of the upcoming Xbox Game Pass additions.
