Yesterday we learned that the new Yakuza title in development at Sega for PS4 and PS3 will be titled Yakuza Zero: The Oath’s Place, and today the first copies of Weekly Famitsu in Japan revealed that the game is predictably a prequel.

According to the reveal article in the magazine, the title will be set in 1988 in the series’ fictional districts of Kamurocho in Tokyo and Soutenbori in Osaka, and will star a much younger Kiryu Kazuma as he deals with Goro Majima, Daigo Dojima and other well known Yakuza characters in their twenties.

The story will explore the origin of the series, and connect with the flashback facts narrated in the first Yakuza game. As usual it will be set in December, as the period around Christmas is basically a tradition for almost all mainline Yakuza titles

He is also one of the few surviving fans of the flight simulator genre on Earth.
