Yooka-Laylee is Going Old School with a Boxed Version Release

on October 4, 2016 6:33 AM

Playtonic Games’ recently posted on their site that Yooka-Laylee would be getting a physical release to coincide with the worldwide launch in the first quarter of 2017. It’s rare that a Kickstarter success sees a boxed release outside of pricey backer rewards but with all the attention and adoration the title has been getting, this news comes as no surprise.

Found inside the ‘Playtonic Labour Update’ was confirmation that the need for a tangible, holdable, huggable version of the game was high: ‘One such query we’re delighted to tackle today is the ever-booming call for a boxed version of Yooka-Laylee.’ The ability to upgrade from digital to physical will eventually be available to backers but the developer didn’t have much detail beyond that.

With all the press surrounding the whimsical platformer early next year seems too far away. Here’s hoping the Playtonic fulfill their promise and are’pushed straight back down the dev shaft as soon as we’ve pressed the submit button.’
