You Snooze, You Lose: Catherine Demo Pulled from PSN

By Chad Awkerman

If you haven’t had a chance to download the Catherine demo, you may have missed your chance. Word is coming down today that it has been pulled from the Japanese PlayStation Network. Why, you ask? Probably not in the sense that you’re thinking. Atlus has stated that they only allocated so many downloads to the demo and it has met that quota, so it was removed. (It is, however, still available on Xbox Live, if you have a Japanese account.)

This is interesting because I’ve never in my life heard of a demo being pulled from the PSN because it only had a limited number of downloads. Be that as it may, I have a feeling international interest in the title may have caused the demo to reach its download limit. If nothing else, perhaps this will show Atlus that there is great interest for it outside of Japan and, if a localization isn’t already underway, perhaps it could kick-start that process.

If you missed it, we posted our impressions of the demo several days ago, so you can check them out in the meantime. The title releases in Japan on February 17, 2011.
