Nihon Falcom revealed in this month's issue of Dengeki PlayStation magazine the names, profiles, full artwork and more for some of the playable characters in Ys IX: Monstrum Nox, including the "red-haired man".The new information includes new screenshots and a detailed explanation for two of the playable characters, including comments from Falcom's President Toshihiro Kondo. One important element was also revealed, the fact that the five playable Monstrum characters don't seem to have real names and are instead nicknamed after animals. The white-haired cat girl is named "White Cat", while the dual-wielding blonde guy is called "Hawk". Some of the game's NPCs were introduced as well.Besides Adol and the five Monstrum, a red-scarf wearing character is playable as well, for a total of 7 party members announced so far. For those still wondering, we also already confirmed before each party members has different attack attributes like in recent Ys games. Seeing Falcom's communication and how they refrain from saying Adol is Adol,  something about him is definitely going on in the game's story as well.

Falcom also published on Twitter a silhouette of the character "which looks like Adol", stating that the official site for Ys IX: Monstrum Nox will be updated in the next few days. It'll probably be the same info found in Dengeki PlayStation. As we can see,  the character has some sort of claw hand, which seems to indicate he was the character found in one of the previous key visuals.

Falcom's president revealed the first gameplay footage and tons of details including Adol's age in Ys IX during a stage event at Dengeki Game Festival 2019. He also yet again stated his wish to remake Ys V. We also learned more about the future of the Kiseki series and how the next main games might feature a female protagonist.

You can find low-res preview images of the magazine below. This article will be updated once Dengeki PlayStation 674 becomes available in a few hours, with all the new info and translated profiles for the characters.

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox is scheduled to launch this fall in Japan on PS4.

Update: Falcom updated Ys IX's official site with the same info from Dengeki. A pretty eerie BGM sample is included on the site, setting a darker atmosphere compared to the rest of the series. Here's a translation of White Cat and Hawk's profiles along with their character artwork and direct-feed versions of the previously shown gameplay videos. More artwork and screenshots are included in the gallery below.

White Cat is a Robin Hood-like Monstrum in the prison city Balduk, stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. Everyone in the slum districts loves her and she's like a symbol of the resistance against the Romun Empire's oppression. She often does flashy, circus-like performances all around the streets of Balduk. In battle, she specializes in speedy attacks thanks to her cat-like body. Her Movement Action which allows her to run up any wall in the game is titled Heavens Run. You should use it as much as possible to spot interesting places from above in the gigantic city and discover hidden passages and treasures in dungeons. The others' Monsrum Movement Actions are like that too, and basically, the more party members you'll get the more places you'll be able to access or discover.

Hawk is a battle maniac who believes his swords are the solution to every problem. He's also known around the city as the "judgment from the heavens", because of his flying ability. He's arrogant and the most feared Monstrum by the citizens of Balduk, and even the other Monstrum usually don't dare to approach him. Hawk's Movement Action is titled Hunter Glide. The higher you started from, the longer you'll stay in the sky, and you can also use it to attack enemies from above.
