Ys IX: Monstrum Nox is Set for February 2021 Release in the West

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox finally receives a Western release date, and will be coming to PS4 in February, followed by PC and Switch in the summer.

In a trailer released today, Ys IX: Monstrum Nox finally has a western release date. The game has been out since September 2019 on PS4 in Japan and now the West is finally getting the game on February 2, 2021 for PS4. After that, Ys IX will be coming to PC and the Nintendo Switch in summer 2021, according to the trailer.

The trailer for the action-JRPG focuses mainly on the game’s flashy combat style as well as some of the new enemies that players will face. Despite being a pretty short look at the game, the trailer shows off a lot of diverse combat encounters and a wide range of enemy types to fight as well as some of the new characters who will be joining Adol in the game’s main story.

Fans of the series know that Ys has always had a delayed release outside of Japan, so the 2021 western release date for Monstrum Nox shouldn’t come as a surprise. While Ys IX: Monstrum Nox doesn’t have an ESRB rating yet, it’s probably safe to assume that the game will be rated “T,” in line with the other games in the series.

The trailer for the release date has been one of two videos for the game’s Western release, with an announcement trailer that dropped in June. Despite being a relatively niche series, the announcement trailers for Ys IX: Monstrum Nox have amassed nearly 400,000 views on YouTube alone.
