Nihon Falcom released plenty on new information for the PlayStation 4 version of Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana, coming to Japan on May 25, North America, and Europe in 2017.

Originally released in July for PlayStation Vita in Japan, the developer details a new battle system that the PS4 version will have. Players will be able to choose missions to challenge special battles called "Controlled Fights". These fights can be found after the main story has been advanced and hidden bases are found containing beasts.

In these areas, players will need to suppress the enemies be weakening their nests. These nests will spawn enemies over time and need to be taken out to decrease the amount of beasts in the area. By lighting the "Bonfires" around the map enemies will become weaker.

After destroying all the nests or after a certain amount of time has passed, a boss will appear. The player will win the controlled fight after the boss is defeated.

However, this is not as easy as it sounds. Enemies will spawn to destroy the Bonfire the player lights. If the Bonfire is destroyed then the enemies regain their strength which creates a disadvantage for the player.

Furthermore, there is a mode in the PS Vita version called "Intercept Fight" where players will fight waves of enemies and works a little differently than the PS4 Controlled Fights, but offer similar results.
