The latest issue of Japan's Jump magazine has confirmed that a new Yu-Gi-Oh! game is in development for the Nintendo 3DS. The game is called Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal: Clash Duel Carnival and it will include more than 5,500 unique cards and 40 playable characters. Like most Yu-Gi-Oh! video games, it will revolve around card battling. The game will be available in Japan this year. Yu-Gi-Oh! is a popular enough franchise that many or most of the video games are eventually localized for release outside of Japan.

Although some have called the card game a ripoff of the absurdly popular Magic: The Gathering trading card game, I've always been a sucker for Yu-Gi-Oh!'s art and the exciting anime and manga series. Here's hoping this game comes stateside.
