Yuji Naka's Tenkuu no Kishi Rodea Coming to Wii and 3DS

It’s not a NiGHTS sequel, but hey it’s close enough. In fact Tenkuu no Kishi Rodea almost was a sequel to NiGHTS but Sonic the Hedgehog creator Yuji Naka decided to make the game into its own IP. I dig that. I wish more devs would have the cojones to make new properties instead of digging up old games that don’t need more sequels. This is the guy that made SONIC talking.

Tenkuu no Kishi Rodea is a game all about free-flying, which very much excites me. If a game has a flying or jetpack level, it tends to be my favorite part of the game. Why doesn’t every game have a jetpack? Not much is said about the 3DS version but the Wii port is controlled mostly through pointing the wiimote and hitting the B button. Some waggling is required to take off but according to Andriasang, it doesn’t sound like there will be much of it.

Naka’s company Prope is developing the game. They’re the guys who keep bringing us great games that no one plays like Let’s Tap, Let’s Catch and last year’s Ivy the Kiwi?, which was one of my favorite games of the year.
