Zombieland Saga movie announced

The Zombieland Saga series had a special concert event on October 16 and 17. Fans outside Japan could actually watch the show with a paid live stream. As it’s often the case since the pandemic.

The second and last day of the concert included an announcement for a brand new movie. The Zombieland Saga movie also had an international release already confirmed as well, though we don’t have a release date yet.

You can find the trailer in Japanese and the English announcement tweet below. Keep in mind that while they did a live-action announcement trailer, the Zombieland Saga movie will be an anime movie.

Additional details on the staff of the movie will be announced at a later date; We know it’s produced by Studio Mappa though like the rest of the series.

Zombieland Saga was first aired in 2018, featuring Franchouchou, an idol group of zombie girls revived from various eras. The series most notably has a really cool cast of seiyuu including Asami Tano, Kotono Mitsuishi, and Miyano Mamoru voicing the idols’ manager.

The mix resulting from having characters from various eras back as zombies also makes it so Zombieland Saga has some pretty interesting parallels and instructive moments on idol culture and how it changed over the decades in Japan. You should definitely give it a try.

Together with Pretty Series, Zombieland Saga is definitely among the most interesting and unique idol shows from these past few years. You can always catch me on Twitter to chat about more atypical and niche anime series, @A_iyane07.
