XSEED announced that the Falcom developed action game Zwei: The Arges Adventure will launch on PC-via Steam, GOG, and The Humble Store on January 24 for $19.99.

Originally release as Zwei!! in Japan, Zwei: The Arges Adventure is the predecessor to Zwei: The Ilvard Insurrection. Interestingly, this version of Zwei: The Arges Adventure will be the most feature-complete version of the game to date as it includes exclusive features that were spread across PC and console versions in Japan.

This includes Ys typing mini-game, “Pet Monitor”, and puzzle mini-games. Additionally, players can even access the PSP soundtrack, which is different from the original PC version.

The story follows two children, Pipiro and Pokkle, who see a strange man sneak into town and steal six Goddess statues. They make it their personal mission to hunt him down and retrieve the treasures.

Players must journey through dungeons and defeat enemies using a switching mechanic between magic and melee attacks, with some enemies being vulnerable to certain attacks. Instead of experience points, characters gain levels based on how much food they eat, which also heals them in the process. The game’s movement is reminiscent of most grid-based dungeon crawlers but moves in real-time with quicker action.
